PhosNet group at PIC 2017

Dr. Dimitris Tsiokos will give an invited talk at PIC 2017 that will be held during 7-8 March in Brussels, Belgium. The title of the talk will be "CMOS compatible plasmo-photonics for mass-manufactured, powerful PICs".

Dr Tsiokos was born in 1980 in Athens, Greece. He obtained his Bachelor (BEng) degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Southampton, UK in 2001, and his Masters (MSc) degree in Optics & Photonics from Blackett Laboratory, Imperial College London, UK in 2002. In 2007 he completed his PhD degree in Optical Fiber and Photonic Systems from the Photonics Communications Research Laboratory of the National Technical University of Athens, Greece. Dr Tsiokos has worked as a research associate for more than five years in the National Technical University of Athens, and the Research Academic Computer Technology Institute in Greece where he participated in numerous national and EU-funded research projects. He has also worked in industry as a technology consultant and project manager for optical fiber and wireless communications projects. In 2009, Dr Tsiokos held a visiting researcher position at the MOVE Center, School of Engineering, University of Wisconsin-Miwaukee, USA, while he also joined the Centre for Research and Technology (CERTH) in Greece as a senior research associate. His research interests focus on optical data communication, fiber-wireless systems and optical sensors. Dr Tsiokos has authored and co-authored more than 40 publications in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences while he is the author and co-author of two book chapters. In 2010 Dr Tsiokos was appointed a Marie-Curie Fellowship, while he is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece and IEEE.
